Mumbai: The KC Mahindra Scholarship programme has awarded interest-free loan scholarships worth INR 426 lakh (₹4.26 crore) to 92 exceptional scholars under the prestigious K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.
The KC Mahindra Scholarship is one of India’s most prestigious postgraduate scholarship programmes. Established in 1956, it was the first scholarship launched by the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET).
The programme was created with the vision of enabling talented Indian students to pursue advanced studies in disciplines that were not available in India at the time and contribute to the country’s progress upon their return.
Over the decades, the KC Mahindra Scholarship has evolved to support students across a much wider range of academic disciplines and professional fields.
KC Mahindra Scholarship: Expands to Support Postgraduate Studies in India
Marking its landmark 70th year, the KC Mahindra Scholarship has introduced a significant milestone by extending support to students pursuing postgraduate studies in India.
According to the Trust, the expansion reflects confidence in the strength of India’s higher education ecosystem and a continued commitment to supporting exceptional talent regardless of where students choose to study.
The KC Mahindra Scholarship received an overwhelming response this year, with more than 1,744 applications submitted from across the country. Following a rigorous multi-stage selection process, 99 candidates were shortlisted for the final round of interviews.

Selection committee conducted interviews in Mumbai
The final interviews for the KC Mahindra Scholarship were held in Mumbai on 7 and 8 July 2026. The interviews were conducted by an eminent selection committee comprising:

- Bharat Doshi, Trustee, KCMET
- Ulhas Yargop, Trustee, KCMET
- Leena Labroo, Trustee, KCMET
- Dr. Indu Shahani, President and Chancellor, ATLAS SkillTech University
- Ranjan Pant, Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director, Mahindra Group
- Rucha Nanavati, Chief of Advanced Technologies – FEB, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
- Rohit Thakur, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
- Farida Balsara, Senior VP, CSR, Mahindra Group
Scholarships awarded to all interview candidates
The selection committee was deeply impressed by the calibre of candidates participating in the KC Mahindra Scholarship interviews. Recognising their exceptional merit, the Trust awarded scholarships to all candidates who appeared for the final interviews.
Scholarship amounts under the KC Mahindra Scholarship ranged from ₹1 lakh to ₹12 lakh, with awards determined on the basis of academic scores and interview performance.
The first day of interviews concluded with a networking event that brought together members of the selection committee and scholars in an informal setting. The gathering encouraged conversations across disciplines and enabled students to exchange ideas, share experiences and build meaningful connections.
